Environment and the Economy Subcommittee Chairman John Shimkus (IL) led a Congressional Delegation (CODEL) with Ranking Member Gene Green (TX) and Representative Michael Burgess (TX) to investigate the administration's stalled work on the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository in Nevada.

The facility, over two decades and $14 billion in the making, is a secure waste repository, on federal land, under a mountain, out in the desert. An investigation by the Energy and Commerce Committee continues to probe why the Department of Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission refuse to move forward with the project.
