Sorry, had to reupload this video after the last had too much reverb.

It's really summertime here and I've been cooking up in my apartment for a few days now trying to finish this piece. Kind of makes me wish I was CHILLIN' in space, haha! Except not really.

Because then I'd be dead.

Anyway, this is theme of the legendary Pokémon of time and space, Dialga and Palkia, from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. I was super excited when D/P came out for the DS in 2007 and played for three day non-stop. Afterward, I got kind of burnt out on the fact that the games just recycled the whole evil-team-seeks-legendary-Pokémon-to-fulfill-world-domination plot from Ruby/Sapphire, and I began to question whether or not I liked the direction the RPG series was taking (thankfully it got better, but I digress).

The original battle theme from these games captured Dialga/Palkia's reign over the chaotic, so that's what I sought to emphasize in this piece, using orchestral clusters, percussion, and some atonal effects to paint an eerie, unsettling sonic landscape. The beginning of my piece pays homage to composer Bernard Herrmann of Alfred Hitchock's films, who pioneered that "B Science Fiction movie" sound. The rest is influenced by Gustav Holst's "The Planets" with lots of yummy brass to herald the arrival of the PokéGods.

  • I love you so much man, you take two of the things I love most in this world and combine them in an epic and beautiful way, it brings tears to my eyes. :' )

I hope you can eventually make many many more of these, preferably Kanto and Johto. Although Hoenn's music holds the most precious memories for me...I'm getting off-topic, sorry.

Also thanks for liking and favorite'ing Batroll'd, I spent my whole morning watching it. : P

  • @kawaiikamali Aww, thank you. :D And I actually have some big plans for Kanto that are in the works, so stay tuned for those.

Also, you're welcome. :P I wasted too much time watching that yesterday, haha.

  • In future pieces, Could you please loop them?

  • @ULTIMAFOX22 Sorry, no more looping. I've come to realize that it's just a big cop-out to extend the length of the piece when I could be doing more arranging. But if a battle piece like this is already over 2 minutes and 30 seconds long, I won't bite off more than I can chew by arranging an extra 2 minutes 30 seconds of the same themes. At that point, I'd just recommend putting your playlist on repeat.

  • At first, I didn't know how to react. It didn't sound right at all. In fact, I thought I had clicked on the wrong video. Then I heard the magical parts from the original and realized that it was going to be epic.

I don't remember when my jaw dropped, but it was pretty hard finding it afterward.

Anyway, I love how it's a huge orchestral piece, but you still managed to incorporate the awesome piano. Thank you for the amazing reorchestration!

    Definitely thumbs-upped and faved!

  • @xxseenyweenyxx Couldn't have done it without the piano! :)

  • @xxseenyweenyxx I couldn't have said it better myself. Everything you said holds true for me, as well. Confused, awe-struck, amazed, all of that! Liked from me, as well. You definitely deserve it, @skotein

  • I feel like Rayquaza's theme NEEDS to happen.

  • I almost feel like you should've added the clapping like there was in the original vs. Dialga/Palkia battle, however, this was executed masterfully and it made me feel like I had box seats to my own battle. (perhaps also with a big bag of popcorn and a root beer)

  • Please, PLEASE include the tv static and space countdown in the final version! It adds SO MUCH to the atmosphere of the song!!!

  • Dang it sounds so real! Why can't all of em sound as real as this?

  • I havent got much time listening this music in the game cuz I used Masterball right away lol

  • This intro is your best one by the way. It's so interesting!

  • Oh my gosh... your arranging skills are incredible! O.o Wow. Bravo. From one musician to another.

  • why do they change the music i would love to battle dialga and palkia with this music not changed at all thumbs up if you agree

  • This is by far the most professional-sounding remix of this song I've heard yet. Absolutely phenomenal work. :D
