Two Hibakusha (survivors of Japan's atomic bomb attacks) describe their experiences surviving the blast near ground zero and its terrible aftermath in Hiroshima. [5/2009] [Humanities] [Show ID: 16446]
@MrMike3865 You're kinda furthering my own point. I understand that, and made no argument against it. My argument is simply that they do not deserve to, and that's the point of this video.
@lovedandlucy Civillians DO suffer consequences of the bad things their government does whether they deserve it or not! Especially when that government refuses to surrender in order to "save face" and chooses to continue the war, without even caring about the suffering of their own people.
Why are all the comments here so political. She is trying to raise awareness of her experience with the bomb so that NO ONE ever uses it again. Not Japan, not America, and not ANYWHERE. She isn't trying to pass judgement on America.
@MrMike3865 Did you not pay attention to the beginning of this? In clear english you were told that they were only children at that time. A child doesn't understand what things like this mean... If they're cheering then they're only doing what everyone else is. They don't deserve to suffer the consequences of something that they're GOVERNMENT did.
"Were the atomic bombings militarily necessary? By any rational yardstick, they were not. Japan already had been defeated militarily by June 1945. Almost nothing was left of the once mighty Imperial Navy, and Japan's air force had been all but totally destroyed. Against only token opposition, American war planes ranged at will over the country, and US bombers rained down devastation on her cities, steadily reducing them to rubble."
@palcatt Of course the world would be a better place if we all held hands and sang kumbaya together. That would be great. But the world isn't like that and The Germans and the Japanessee in the 30's certainly weren't like that when they were violently and forcefully taking over countries to expand their empires. And let's remember, we wouldn't have got involved if the Japanesse didn't strike us first.
There was no need for the 2nd bomb, the 1st one yes, the 2nd one no, that was an atrocity no-one can deny that surely ? Plus a lot of it was just the Yanks showing the Russians what power they had, all in all I mournfully agree with the 1st bomb, as they were not gonna surrender, but nah, for me the 2nd one was not really needed.
And i say all this as a relative of somone who suffered terribly at the hands of the Japs in a POW camp.
eanielsen123, war has never solved anything. I am against killing your way to happiness because it doesn't work, all it does is cause death and suffering and destruction and it is an obscenity. Nobody deserves to get nuked, period. What an idiotic statement. You think they deserve it because YOU say so? Well who the hell are you? This world would be much better off if we learned how to solve problems without violence. If you have a problem with that then you're sick inside.
