I curse myself now for not buying the CD version of this gem when it came out in the early nineties, since it only consists one Streisand solo, the "Miss Marmelstein", and that it's available on JUST FOR THE RECORD, which I already own at the time, so no need to waste my hard-earned money. When I hear this number now, It simply blows me off: it really is one of Streisand's greatest vocal performance. Here is hoping that SONY?BMG would re-release this album in the near future in hybrid SACD/CD.
Barbara Streisand and Liza Minnelli both seem 2 have a similar style in their very early roles. Liza singing at the age of 19 in "Flora, the Red Menace" sounds remarkably similar to Streisand in this show (Streisand was also 19 in ICGIFW)... Later on both created their own musical style and distinctive trademarks-- but in their teens, they have a very similar tone, imho.
Damn,Streisand at her best!

This was her voice at it's untutored purest; puts a lump in the throat and goose pimples to emerge all over the body
