Spotted this amazing electrical home improvement job at a house for sale in Everett, WA.

Also known as "Worst Automatic Garage Door Opener Installation Ever" on Break.com (see below).

Some classless user stole this and posted it on Break.com on March 9 as their own, where it received over 275,000 views (whoa). Then a couple of other YouTube users stole the video off Break.com and posted it on their own YouTube accounts, where it got another 37,000 views.

Gotta love the internets.

you can NOT USE romex wire outdoors,this looks like a homeowner job the insurance company will laugh.

It would have been easier to just wire the surge protector to a safe and legal 3 prong grounded outlet receptacle, without the ground prong missing.

What would happen when the circuit is closed? Could you calculate the voltage drop? What type of load is this inductive/capacitive/resistive­? In what increments should this cable be strapped? What type of insulation should be used for this type of installation? Should there be any derating in this circuit? Does this installation need to be in conduit?

@promethiusrising it. This is a form of mind control. Imagine the power you could exert over some one if you control their ability to open their garage door. "George, I asked for help for my garage door, and last night it didn't work." George- "You're probably hitting the buttons wrong like on your micro-wave. Let me show you..." (flips light switch.) I KNOW WHY IT'S DONE THIS WAY! You've stumbled upon a very bizarre situation. The person who lived in the house the wire is plugged into did the wiring. Who eve lived there before you knew nothing about electricity. It just happened for them. They asked for help from the person whose house it's plugged into. "Yeah sure, I'll do it." (troll) After getting access to the persons house to do what ever wiring they were there for, they then began to wire the garage door so only they could open

Seattle is jam packed full of hillbilly engineering. Most homes off of I90, 405, I-5, are junkyard homes with camper shells, buckets, brush, and various industrial trash littering the front lawn. I roll my eyes every time I hear a native make fun of the South or Midwest.
