Ejami - EJ Announces His Engagement To Nicole - 01/03/11

At home, Rafe tells Sami that next year at holiday time they'll all be together; Johnny, Sydney, everyone. Sami suddenly gets a phone call and says, "Oh my God!" She hangs up and tells Rafe that her grandmother had a stroke - she has to get to the hospital. At the DiMera Mansion, EJ tells Nicole that there will be no more canoodling with Brady or she'll be out of Sydney's life forever. Nicole asks EJ if he loves her. He makes it clear that he doesn't, nor does he respect her. Nicole wants to know why ruining Sami's life is more important than his own happiness. She realizes he gets perverse satisfaction by torturing her and keeping her from Brady. Nicole insists that an unhappy marriage will be unhealthy for the kids. EJ warns if the children ever see her resentment toward him, she'll be out. Sami, Kayla and Rafe go into Caroline's hospital room. Kayla steps out and Caroline struggles to tell Sami something. She says she's not sorry for what she did - she had to protect her family. Sami smiles. Back at home, Sami and Rafe discuss New Year's Eve plans. Sami decides she'll go to the fireworks extravaganza with him. Nicole is back at the DiMera Mansion, where EJ muses that it looks like she's made her decision. He tells her to go put on the new dress upstairs - they'll go to the fireworks extravaganza to celebrate their engagement. Sami and Rafe arrive at the pier for the fireworks and kiss. Right after, EJ and Nicole appear together. They get into an argument over which couple should leave. Sami sounds off about EJ not being at home with the kids, and calls Nicole names. Nicole throws her drink on Sami. Rafe kisses Sami to cheer her up. EJ notices, and his smile fades. Brady shows up as midnight strikes. EJ announces his engagement to Nicole.
