This is not a People friendly product ! First using GMO corn destroys other local farmers food crop corn. It is invasive and spreads destroying and pollinating regular and organic crops nearby. Also using food crops as a means of energy and oil drives up the cost of food and starves people and puts small business farmers out of business.
Plastics use 3 % of the y/ produced oil, i.e. not much. An increase of that amount on market demand for potatoes and corn will have an impact on prices, increasing starvation & will lead to more exploitation of for instance the rain forest. With a rapidly increasing population on earth this equation won't work. In the EU you have to recycle most materials. Plastics are oil & can easily be energy recycled, i.e. burned to produce electricity & heat. The exhaust are cleaned. Which is better?
They are taking food and turning it into something we really don't need!!!
How about lets stop using disposable plastics instead! There are people starving all over the world and people are using plastics for 45 minutes that are made out of corn and potatoes...!
You have some serious twisted logic. First off oil is a resource that is limited. Corn, and other crops used for plastics or even fuel, is renewable. We grow what we need, not partition out what we have. If more is needed we grow more. Oh and please reconcider your comma use.
Well, also the fact that corn is used (as well as other food), as containers. With that, plus the ethenol gas, we are seriously stressing our crops. And, with world hunger, I think we could use our food better. I mean, soon, people will starve their own, to make money. Oil has turned those who own it, curel. How about those who grow corn? It could be better to eat for yourself, than to let other people take it away from you for comfort.
itsmecejay - What food do you eat that's stored in a plastic container that lasts longer than 180 days? Please throw your milk away.... Obiously food stuff that requires more than a 180 day shelf life would use regular petroleum plastics, those of which will be more expensive in time and would eventually be replaced by, glass?

Trees are renewable. Yet, deforestation is a problem. Hmmm. Weird how this world keeps turning.
