It is, but it has a decent replay value because you unlock concept art and videos as you do better in repetitions of the levels. You earn 'glyph points' in each level based on the number of combos and/or kills you string together in each fight. You can earn a total of three per each section of a chapter and once you earn those three you can't earn them again to cheat your way to getting more.

In the original version of that scene it wasn't flying fox, but a one of the commanders you see throughout the game. This was also very early in the development of the game and is more of a cinematic than a gameplay demonstration.

The thing is, this is early footage of the game in development, and the actual finished game looks alot better! For me, it plays well too and has a great storyline.
