I got one of the similar madel called the Woods Bike, it was a stripped down version of the Dynamo as it had no headlight or Speedometer. The gearbox went bad and the entire motor was factory rebuilt and the original 65cc motor was larger because it was also bored. I don't know how much but it was at the factory. We clocked it on some open roadways and it would do around 60mph. Mine is Blue as I still have it and it is sitting in my basement and needs work.

Oh yes, the Benelli Mini's were, and are, beautiful bikes, just like miniature motorcycles. Visit my Benelli Website/Shrine for my take on the distinction between ordinary "lawn-mower-engined" minis, and the Benellis. It's fun to tear around town on a Dynamo or a Volcano - they are SO SMALL and people just can't even imagine what you are driving. I saw some 70cc Honda Minis in Europe recently, but nothing as small as a Benelli Dynamo!

Very cool mini-bikes. Nobody does it like the Italians do it.

are these things considered rare? or were they as popular as the honda mini trails?

not that rare, Benelli/Cosmo sold a lot of these in the 60s and 70s -- Dynamos are possibly the least rare Benelli of all
