@calmansi this possibility to bypass the lock is irritating for people who paid because they thought that otherwise their network would be deleted. But it is also very worrying as to Ning's (in) capacity to provide a tech implementation of what it intends. Or says it intends, at least.
Not "either you pay or get deleted", LordStoneRaven: it's "either you pay or your network - members and content - get locked into the Ning server and kept hostages there. I can still download video files from a network I put offline in August. And the IDs of members of that offline network are still in the Ning server.
Then the Ning lock on unpaid networks can be bypassed by using the for mobile version provided by Ning itself, or Opera, or any linearizing browser feature / addon..
Ning is a rip off. The advertise it as free to lure everyone in and then change their minds and decide to charge. And either you pay or get deleted! All based on a free platform to beat it all off. And some will say their plans are reasonable but look closely at the plans they offer. The basic is cheap yes, but what they offer is no more than a bae bones with basicly no customizations available. Don't fall for their BS find another site to host your networks on and teach them a lesson.
