Improvisation for four guitars, played (multitrack) by David W Solomons, illustrated by some 1950s ivory carvings of horses, representing a Chinese tale about a horse stung by an insect (probably a flea) and running away. The series of carvings has always been a beloved adornment to our household, brought over from Hong Kong in 1955 (before the CITES restrictions!).
The improvisation is based on an ostinato with a chromatic basso continuo which I use in my compositions from time to time - it is my own personal flea ;-)
It can also be heard in "an Amble round Mercury" for recorder orchestra.
