This place looked like CRAP last time we went this year

We were at Silver Springs on Sunday 07/03/2011. I had been there 35 years ago as a child and it has always been a source of great memories for me. It was nice to see it still here entertaining people and giving them a glimpse of wonderful gardens, wildlife and old Florida. I loved it as much as ever.

when i went i was scared because a gator was exteremly close to our boat and the water is very high

Great place to visit, but be forewarned: The best day to go is in the middle of the week with NO holidays near. That way you don't have to put up with everyone's obnoxious child yelling, screaming and asking dumb questions every 2 seconds. I was almost tempted to throw a child AND their parents overboard to the alligators once.

i went a cople days ago and i make a vid to plese watch it

once upon a time, a person could take their own boat up into the springs, common courtesy was to stay out of the area where they did the tours at the head, but the rest(99.999%) of the run was fair game seeing as it is "navigable waters" and was legally public domain. I spent many a day in silver run less then 1/2 mile from that spot just outside the park property.

MY GRANDMA USED TO WORK THERE :D! she planted all the flowers in silver springs and worked for the green house.. she planted atleast over 1000 flowers a day :D but she retired, and ever sence then, the flowers have died and silver springs looks very dull :( and she retired in 2009 probly a month before new years :P
the place needs some tender loving care, but it is an awesome place. its nice to see that people still like it as i do!

@mechanicanman01 It's good to see that parts of old Florida are still here. The Citrus Tower in Clermont, Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven, now under the LegoLand name but the Gardens and ski show will still be there, Bok Tower Gardens near Lake Whales, as well as Weekie Watchie springs. They're all still here proving that Disney didn't kill everything.

@cmartyn88 Glad to see you both had fun there. It's nice to see that Silver Springs is still able to hang on in Disney's backyard :)

Aren't there several statues at the bottom? What film was that from?

@drummerboy398 Yeah, that's in part 2 and Silver Springs was used in filming the underwater sequences of a James Bond movie called Thunderbolt.
