Is it really necessary to be BAPTIZED? Why is it important and what does it represent?

the rock isn't peter, its Jesus' body

  • @urLovedbyGod

Wrong!! Look at the context !

Who am I ?? Jesus says. You are the Christ Peter says....upon this rock etc etc.

The foundation or the rock is the knowledge that Jesus is the son of God.

Most christian churchs are built on the lie that Jesus is the very God which is different to what Peter proclaimed.

and why do you think the antichrist is called the "son of perdition."

you can study this for yourself. the "rock" being Christ's body is a position held by many church "fathers" including augustine (not that that really matters, but it just gives a hint that this was probably the accepted interpretation in the apostolic church.)

  • John 1.

btw, get this video down. it just causes unnecessary division amoung the children of God.

  • @squashpianoman Ok, so we have established that it is more than likely that Peter was the Rock on which the Church was to be built, which the gates of Hades was NEVER to prevail against. In that case, your church CANNOT be the TRUE CHURCH as it was not around in those early days. John Thomas founded your group in the 19th Century.

  • @CamdenChristadelphia Whether or not Peter is the rock that Jesus was refering to - it seems likely as this is the name Christ gives to Simon (Cephas - which literally means rock!), what are the odds? The point is, this is when Christ first states His intention to build a church, and Peter and the other apostles went of to set this in motion. Your faith is an off-shoot from the Original faith - your faith is a heresy.

  • @squashpianoman The context of these verses is Peter's acknowledgement that he recognised who Jesus was - "The SON of the LIVING GOD"

Jesus likewise acknowleges rightly who Peter is - bar Jona(son of Jona)

So what is the rock or foundation the church will be built on?

It can be taken 2 ways 1. The acknowledgement that Jesus is the son of GOD.

    or

    2. Peter personally.

What is the consistent theme in the bible?

A church based on Peter or acknowledgement of who Jesus is?
