Here is a program for what it takes to achieve a $1/watt solar thermal concentrator electric generator, better than solar panels! Critique it on the weblog - at http://openfarmtech.org/weblog/?p=507

We are looking for people who are interested in building the world's first replicable open source self-sufficient decentralized permaculture village - to transcend survival and evolve to freedom.

  • Does ayone know if someone has perfected or optimised the Meto wheel? It was like a ferris wheel with chambers around the outer edge that had tubes connecting to one on the opposite side of wheel. There was a solar heated tub at the base ad in the chambers was a liquid that turned to gas easily temp wise. It was basically a solar powerd water mill.

  • There are always small minds that need to be critics. It is clear that you are not interested in this man's intentions when he made this video. If you need videos of the technology he describes look it up as there are plenty and he even tells you the name of the type he is describing.

  • Great idea to open source the project. Let's hope it goes all the way to the last step.

  • Wow, this could be a power point presentation tor a group of middle schoolers. There is certainly no useful information. Where are the vids of actual solar concentrators and power generation eluded to in the vid almost 2 years old. There are several informative vids from this site, this is not one of them.

  • We need alot! I'm working on a parabolic trough water heater. I'm hoping to do it for very little money. I love the idea of solar thermal electricity. I look forward to the detailed plans.

  • next they plan on making an open source spacecraft and colonizing our solar system

i feel inclined to go the route these guys are describing in their videos mainly because of disillusionment since mainstream science that has failed to produce viable fusion energy and so the american lifestyle of using all this energy has become a negative thing. i think we need to live a less detached lifestyle

us monkeys are pretty damn squirrelly when you think about it better to be mature about everything

  • @macrumpton i prefer it during some presentations because there are always problems with syncing a speech to a slideshow/video. at least one in every 10 videos should be just like this, the others of this guys are pretty damn awesome!

@marcinose you guys look smart and very industrious, I might have to start organizing a similar project of open source environmentally sound living here in az, i smoke too much weed tho, id never get anyone to listen.

  • @vertigo568mailinator It can be found at their web-site.

  • Some visuals besides a talking head would be welcome.

  • Great introduction to the project, Hope all goes well. Fantastic to have someone speaking in an intelligent, structured and coherent way!
