  • man i love blues!

  • (CONTINUED) There is also the element of having an ear to play; something also hard to instruct. Many people promise to help develop your ear but only you can do it with the help of constantly listening to the artists you love and try to actively listen and figure out what they're doing. Again, most importantly, get a private teacher. Go to blues gigs, and cozy up to a pianist you like. If he or she doesn't teach, they could probably recommend one who does. Good luck; nothing in life comes easy.

  • Very nice music.

  • i like lesson like this.

  • @fenty62 I HAVE AN EAR AND I PLAY BLUES PIANO! CANT CALL THAT A MYTH. (you obviously dont probably "improvise" as people call it)

  • man thanks so much for these lessons

  • the left hand is definitely too "low-tuned" :)

  • now this guy is amazing

  • Having an ear is a myth, as long as ya know the song and what keys to press you should be ok, figuring out songs will just be hard. And its not that enduring, when you play for a fcouple of years something like this wouldnt be that enduring, the left hand bit in this video is pretty relaxed and slow.

  • @ PostBop, very true on all counts. The one "Key" point I want to maybe help reiterate to others is the endurance. It is natural when starting to fatigue easily, especially when you don't stay relaxed.

Staying relaxed however will come soon enough. One thing I love about the piano is before you know it, you'll be sitting there enjoying your own improvs and won't even notice you're the one playing.

    Good luck all!

  • You look like Dennis Quaid LOL
