@cyanidesicky Despite this new direction not being to my liking, I can still understand why some people like the last two albums and I don't consider them to be horrible albums either. As a matter of fact, I don't consider any of the Swallow the Sun's work to be "bad" or "horrible" and honestly feel they are one of the better death/doom acts out there with great musicianship in all their work. I'm just disappointed because their new sound is turning more gothic and less death/doom.

@cyanidesicky Kai Hahto, along with the rest of the band, is a great musician/artist. However, since he joined the band, Swallow the Sun hasn't been making the type of music that *I* like. At least with their older material (before 2009) I could listen to them and say "Wow this is good work" and actually enjoy the music. But with newer releases ("New Moon" and afterwards) I can't get into their work. This isn't Hahto's fault btw, the band just went in a direction I don't care for.

@0x0DissonantSoulsx0x Really? I thought These Woods Breathe Evil was brilliantly arranged (Hahto's tempo changes are what make the album, really). Each song seems to have something that he made his own on that album :)

@oaklandrmoss18 Personally, I don't like Swallow the Sun's new album or most of their albums as a whole with 'Plague of Butterflies' being an exception. I only like some of their songs including Out of this Gloomy Light, The Morning Never Came, The Justice of Suffering, The Ship, The Giant, Losing The Sunsets, Evael and that's it. On average I like one or two songs from each album but with "New Moon" and "Emerald Forest and the Blackbird" I didn't like any. That's just me though.

@oaklandrmoss18 Your opinion is not "irrelevant" You just have to understand that not everyone is going agree but doesn't mean you're wrong (or right). Critics don't know everything either but people listen to them because of their titles. I find that following your own heart will lead you to a better place.

@LeaTelamon STS new album beats the shit out of this record... And thats cool if you guys think this is their best album. Honestly, everyone Ive talked to feel the same way I do about this album, its good but not as good as Ghosts of Loss or New Moon. But I dont read too many of the reviews like you guys so I guess my opinion is irrelevant...

@oaklandrmoss18 I think it's a bad comparing saying Hope is similar to St. Anger. If anything, most Metallica fans will most likely reject St. Anger as their best album as actual fans are more likely to cite Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightning. I do think Hope symbolizes the height in StS' career, though.
