i get the "corporate lapdog" point, but let's face it, DV is now so iconic, he's on a par with Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman etc. They've been used in advertising for virtually everything and i think it just goes to show DV's popularity. As for spin-offs and commercials ruining SW for kids....remember the Star Wars Holiday Special? unfortunately i do. lol MTFBWY

That is a fair point, but I think the difference with those iconic horror characters is that in almost every medium they're in, they are presented differently. If you saw them in an advert it would be harder to say that the character (both visually and symbolically) is the sole creation of 'X'. Furthermore, they are characters taken from novels, and so fair game in how people portray them. Darth Vader is the product of a film, and a specific 'world', a world that doesn't mesh with ours

It does soften the effect of the movies when u see the characters in adverts! but the film is so old now! not sure if it matters!

The films may be old but that doesn't mean the fans are. With all the re-releases in both the cinema and on DVD/Blu-Ray, what about the new (younger) fans?
