http://BrainMind.com Brain Mind Lecture 3 Frontal Lobes: Lobotomy Catatonia Mania Depression Obsessions Compulsions Perseveration Confabulation Aphasia, An Introductory Overview by Rhawn Joseph, Ph.D. http://BrainMind.com
The video constitutes one of six Brain Mind Introductory Lectures, posted on youtube, each providing an introductory overview of the functional organization of the brain. To reduce confusion, all CT images have been reversed so damage on the left appears on the left, and right sided damage appear on the right. For a detailed presentation I recommend one of the best neuroscience texts of all time: the 2nd edition of Neuropsychiatry, Neuropsychology, Clinical Neuroscience, by Rhawn Joseph, Ph.D.

So right frontal lobe inhibits the rest of the brain and the left frontal lobe inhibits the right frontal lobe? If yes, this would explain why the damage to the right formal lobe causes mania and the damage to the left frontal lobe causes depression.

@extremeeXrement1 The risk is overly dominate parents who threaten kids with mental hospitals, and or other authority abuses. The Nazis could have easily made a case to lobotomize instead of kill, and collective need to agree with authority and peers would have things happening in concert. If you were Jewish you were hosed.

It truly would be. I believe that iq has a lot to do with a particular environment and culture and plays into a cycle. I've always believed that the environment is first affected by the people and that creates a certain environment or culture one is born and bred into and that person has the values from that environment or culture instilled in them and they in return help to make their environment or culture what it is during their life time........

.....This will determine in general whether or not a person will progress in their life time personally and financially. It seems that yes, intelligence would play a major part or at least the critical thinking part of a persons intelligence or "iq" which is imho a persons range of how conscience they are about anything. ...........

......This also makes me wonder about "morality" and ethical behavior. Is morality attached to a persons iq level ? As in humans are the only ones that are judged by how moral they are and intelligence as in the iq or critical thinking or the conscience level of the mind is a large part that separates humans from animals because while a chimp can be trained mechanical skills it for the most part acts mostly on instinct..........

........Much imho like a redneck who might be ok at using tools, driving a rig, or operating a firearm but seems to lack common sense and has a low iq or moral conscience when it comes to of course knowing wrong from right and functional social skills from dysfunctional social skills like one would think a human should have. ............

......Since the world is a complex place and can't be fit into a neat little box like I've seen in so many arguments that come from rednecks btw there will always be the exception to the general rule, but yeah, for the most part their type seem to be on the lower income levels. Some times one will find a decent paying job but in those mechanically trained skills like I've mentioned before about the trained chimp which again includes driving trucks along with construction and so forth........

.........Of course as I mentioned the world is complex and not so easily packaged. Some highly intelligent people which imo are the exceptions are born into an inferior environment and culture and have allowed that to hold them back. I for example was born in such an environment and culture that lacks ie innercity and a failure of a father and it took me years to shake the mentality that was holding me back. It took age, lots of thinking, and changing environments to see my mistakes......
