@bryceep They used a lot of famous people to get people to come to see a 45 year old play for which they've already seen the movie. The same trick was used in Chicago, Grease, and West Side Story recently. In some cases the choices were more for name recognition than singing ability: Brook Shields, Christie Brinkley, John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, etc.
