A group of students along with two professors from Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL, went on a trip called "Journey for Hope" to Haiti. They were seeking to help one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere. Unfortunately a great trip quickly turned bad. Haiti was hit with an earthquake. Not just a small one either. Buildings shook for 35 seconds, and then crumbled. After the earthquake Lynn University immediately sent a rescue crew to Haiti in order to search for the group. Eight of the students were found & are safe. They were all flown black to Florida to be with their families & friends. Lynn later received news that three more of the students from the group had been found and were safe. Later that evening, that information was proven false. Families whom had thought their children were alive & safe were now facing harsh news. In addition to the three students missing, Courtney Hayes, Stephanie Crispanelli, and Britney Gengal, another student, Christine Gianacaci and two professors RIchard Bruno and Patrick Hartwick are still unaccounted for. The Lynn University community as well as millions of people across the nation are praying for this group of people to be found and brought back home to their families safely. We have not lost faith!

  • Could everyone please stop arguing and bashing each other on this video. This is a very sensitive subject, and I made this video without any intention of causing problems between people. It is a terrible tragedy what these girls went through. Only God knows where this group is, but our prayers have not stopped. It's not over until it's over.

  • overduw. but pray for all the families that the healing process continues. many of the families are not even the least bit healed. pray esp. for the crispinellis they are still hurting very much.

  • 0:58 makes me cry he built my house i just cant lose the hope im praying for brittney and everyone else who may be missing

  • Florida media are reporting that the remains of second missing Lynn student have been found and identified. However, her name has not yet been released.

  • 02.10/10: Lynn University officials say the U.S. Department of State have contacted the family of 23-year-old Courtney Hayes Wednesday to confirm the young woman's death. Her body was found in the wreckage of the Montana hotel.

  • Everything is over except for the recovery effort.

And while we all hope it will be successful in finding bodies, people need to understand it is very possible that many of the missing will never be found.

Anyone who wants to debate that is welcome to read about the similar recovery efforts at the World Trade Center after 9/11. They went on for over four years, but over one thousand of the missing were never accounted for.

  • The proper French term is Mlle, not "Mile." As for what the families have or have not accepted, I was going with what they and Lynn U. have publicly stated. If you claim (yes, claim, we have no way of knowing whether you really are as close to the family as you state) to have inside information that they feel differently, fine - but will you/they still be feeling the same thing another week from now? Or a month? Year? I hope not - for false, empty hope is worse than no hope at all.

  • @MlleCantonVaud

you have no idea what your talking about i no stephanie she has been my best friend for over 10 years her family has not accepted the fact that she is gone and still has faith dont start saying stuff you know nothing about really you think the news has all the facts well i got it froma direct source

  • MileCanton the families have not accepted the fact that they are dead. I was best friends with Stephanie...BEST FRIENDS since i was 5 and im 17 now. my whole family is very close with her family and i spoke with her mother yesterday and they have no accepted the fact and still have hope. dont start stating things that you know nothing about.

  • Flycentro, please do not take out your potty-mouthed ugliness (from a "journalist," yep, sure) on those who simply point out the truth you can't accept. If one googles "Courtney Hayes dead NBC" they will find see the reports mikeymars mentioned. And Lynn University announced tonight that the families of the missing students have accepted the fact their children did not survive the quake. So chew on that and if you have any guts, go to their website and see it for yourself.
