what are you talking about? it goes Unreal Tournament, then UT2003, then UT2004 and then UT3, UT3 and UT2007 are the SAME THING, Epic changed the name from UT2007 to UT3 to show that it's the THIRD generation of the Unreal Engine (Unreal Engine 3) and to show that there is more of a story in this game than previous installments.

lol. to some extend it does
play a recent game like ut3 on 800x600 and then 1024x768 same settings except the resolution changed. youll see ALOT of difference ( as in 1024x768 looking perfectly fine )

the downscaling/upscaling to 800x600 looks horrible while downscaling/upscaling to 1024x768 still works fine ;)

That depends on your monitor, it doesn't apply to everyone.

I was more referring to "except that everything is smaller and therefor harder to hit" That was how the old 2d games worked because the sprites were measured in pixels so more pixels in same screen area equaled smaller enemies... it no longer applies.

a yes, thats true. im not sure how ut does it but alot of games still follow the old method tho...

Why don't people just run games at their monitors' native resolution?
