This 2 hour special is absolutely excellent! It was created by the same people that made the 'Magic Years' series and the 'Champions of the World' video. There are interviews with his mom, sister, aunt, cousin, Brian May, Roger Taylor, Peter Freestone (his personal assistant), Mary Austin (love of his life and life long best friend), Jim Hutton (his last live in lover), a member of his 1st band The Hectics, several of his close friends.
Have the tissues ready, as you're almost guaranteed to shed a tear at the end of it!

Hang on, we don't KNOW how Freddie contracted HIV. Just because no-one has said it wasn't through IV drug abuse or a contaminated blood transfusion doesn't mean it wasn't - no one has said "Freddie caught HIV from unprotected sex with X-person." We also don't KNOW that it wasn't a woman - Freddie had relationships with both. Sure, it was PROBABLY his gay promiscuity, which Freddie never denied, but none of us can say DEFINITELY how Freddie got HIV, so we shouldn't label opinions as FACT....

@rayfenwick true,but at the time homosexual men were contracting aids at an alarming rate at the time and aids was basically incurable then and if you had it then it was only a matter of time. I think he got it through another gay man but your comment definitely made me think. I sure wish he was still here.. He has the most amazing voice i've ever heard and is just an amazing person.

@rayfenwick yes, he COULD have gotten it from a needle, or from a woman. but as far as the woman is concirned. there is much higher risk of a man infecting another man or a woman with HIV than it is a woman infecting a man. and a woman infecting another woman is pretty much unheard of if I remember correctly.

@Internalpeaceseeker I know people didn't use condoms back then like they do nowadays. If they knew of the major risks involved then as they do now, a lot of things would be different. I'm talking about everybody, not just homosexuals, everybody!!! Just saying be smart!!
