Both martial arts have the same origins meaning the different martial art styles of chinese and japanese families.The crucial difference between them is that kung fu is a more complete martial art due to the fact that it has been around for longer and also it was more successful in assimilating those styles.Karate is not as complete.There is a martial art(which was named mistakenly traditional karate) which is based in these(most of them) martial art styles.

Kung Fu is a very ancient art. Karate derives from Kung Fu as Judo derives from Jiu-Jitsu. Chinese culture is older than japanese one.

Hey to all u people who marked this as "kung Fu" u are right, but u prbly didn't know that kung fu is the chinese version of karate and is derived from karate.
