Their visors definitely were scratched; you can see it in the still photos. They never had to worry about UV because it's completely stopped by their polycarbonate pressure helmets.
The gold visors were mainly to dim visible light (like sunglasses) and to stop near IR (the reason you feel warm in the sun). Houston wanted them to keep their visors down as much as possible to reduce the cooling load on the PLSS and its consumption of cooling water,a critical consumable on the moon.

its bullshit jack and you know it...are there any laws against privately flying to the moon....

Yeah - Man ...Its such a shame that NASA says it will take some 20 years to go back. What a shame huh.

"There certainly are alot of big boulders" aren't there Jack? Wink

Its Hard to Kno who actually was the Last Man On The Moon? Gene Cernan says he Was? But Jack Didn't Dispute that He Was here Either?
I Think the Commander Is the Last into the Space Craft, as he Probably had slightly more Duties to carry out. Small things Like Parking the Rover so the Camera can Film the Lift Off. Only the Commanders Drove the Rovers on the Last 3 Apollo Missions.
I Reckon Gene Was the Last Into the Lunar Module

I would love to meet him in person!! A true dream of mine would be to somehow meet Jack and talk to him one on one about his experience. If there is anyway to make this a reality I would put forth much effort!
