This song is from the last album in which John sang with the group. He later was fired and went on a six-month drug-and-depression lifestyle and almost committed suicide. But his wife, who became a Christian during that time, advised him to talk to her pastor. He went to the pastor and wasn't expecting to change, but he did; he became a Christian. :)
He later became the lead singer for the Christian metal band, Petra. He even did some solo albums. :)

Head East always was and always will be remembered for one tune and it certainly isn't this,"Never Been Any Reason" Cherie Currie and her sister butchered the hell out of this song! this version isn't any better! I'll stick with Rainbow's version!

No that was in the late 70's and early 80's Smokey Joe was the band. They have all gone their own way and one has passed away. All doing regular jobs now. That was a long time ago.
