A quick glance at the new level importer graphical interface, showing some of the new features. I have yet to test how the game handle multiple waterboxes, so the combination may be limited.

I'll try to finish it still this month, since there nas been a burst of SM64 hacking activity lately.

By the way, if you are having texture problems with the .obj exporter plugin for Google SketchUp provided at my site, try replacing it with this one:

Latest released version of the "Mario 64 Level Importer" can always be downloaded at

  • is it possible to use the level importer without the GUI?

    I'm working on a plugin for Sketchup that automatically triangulates, subdivids (if needed), exports to an .obj-file, writes a settings-file (for the importer) and imports to the rom;

but opening the GUI freezes Sketchup and you have to manually open the settings-file (or configure the importer manually).

The file obj_import.exe only shows "please use Windows GUI" D:

    Please make a commandline-version too. :)

  • @JTBrinkmann I have been too busy to finish up v13, but yeah it could be used as a command-line utility if you provide a settings file.

However, there's still collision mapping, which would need be to done manually by editing the .mtl file or, in the next version, directly from the GUI (this was a feature I added after this video).

  • i like how you guys make these easy-to-use programs so that anyone can hack a super mario 64 game. it's really fun. my kid brother likes to use it too, you know, stuff like adding three king bomb-ombs and a king whomp in the same spot. stuff like that. what about water blocks, i seem to have trouble adding those into the course. is there a trick to it?

  • can you please tell me how to get a obj file

  • greate job dude!

I'm using the importer (v12) for a while now, and it's interresting messing around with new levels :D

But you made a video of the importer v13 and wrote about a future v14 in the comments 5 month ago; while I only find v12 on your site o_O?

Would be nice to get the newest one :D

  • Thank you SOOOO much for including the new ObjExporter, the other one didn't work as well on Vista.

  • @frauber I dont believe so. I just installed it like yesterday since my C drive got wiped. Regardless, the rom worked on version 1.4 :)

  • @WereRabbbit Actually, have you enabled extended memory on your emulator as my site says (both steps)?

  • @frauber I think it is, and it did say something about settings. How can I set it up to work? And which version do you recommend? I used 1.6 and 1.7

  • @WereRabbbit It's something in your emulator settings, probably it's pausing after the error. If nothing works, try a different version or emulator.
