  • NOT GEL - ooo. Don Draper does not have helmet hair - he has soft pliable slick hair. I would have used pomade (like Layrite) or even brylcreem for an authentic look. That hair is going to be as hard as a rock and if he runs his hands thru it, he'll have flakey poof hair. Also, I would have made the part a much more razor sharp.

  • I doubt Draper would have a zit on his forehead.

  • Use Pomade instead of gel...

  • Brylcreem. That's what I use. Just a dab will do ya. Don't use gel. Ever. In any hairstyle.

  • suavecito pomade.

    that is all.

  • I use royal crown hair dressing and it works great.

  • @ourhero81 or a nose and eyebrow ring...

  • This is very helpful. As an Italian-American, I have very thick hair and Brylcreem usually doesn't hold. This is why I believe this fellow uses gel for the stronger slick-back.

  • @notfauxnooz They actually use redken gel for men and finish it with hairspray on Jon Hamm's hair.

  • It's a good how to, but look at the Don Draper how to, perhaps you could do a how to about that, since the lady just shows us how she combs it.
