IN LOVING MEMORY - Cody Waters

This one is for you, Jennette, to get past those hard times. I've never lost a friend in a way you did, but I am
sincerely sorry.

Cody's Story

Cody Waters is a 9-year old boy, born and raised in Orange County. Like most boys, Cody enjoyed playing baseball, football and basketball. Most of all, he found joy in riding motorcycles, especially his Kawasaki 110.

In March 2008, Cody's life changed; he was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. Since then, he has undergone five brain surgeries to remove tumors. In July, a tumor was found in Cody's spinal cord, affecting his ability to walk. Cody receives chemotherapy for his cancer and he returns to the hospital every three weeks for treatment. The doctors have informed Cody and his family that he will need chemotherapy treatment up to one year.

Cody has two sisters and his parents are both in law enforcement. Cody's wish is to donate monies raised from the Off-Road Ride to Survive event to the Child Life Program at CHOC. According to Cody, "Whenever kids like me have to stay in the hospital, Child Life always supplies us with toys, video games, movies...anything to make our hospital stay a little easier to deal with. The Child Life team also spends a few minutes talking to us and helping to make us feel a bit calmer."

"I've learned there are other kids out there fighting cancer like me. I'm not the only one."
