In thinking about it further, also consider that this LightSaver Light-Strand is not only around the doorway, but also runs a few inches just above floor level; well below the line of smoke as it moves toward the floor. Think about it, if you're caught in that smoky space, what good does an audible smoke alarm do you? The LightSaver provides VISUAL EXIT INFORMATION all the way down to the floor and along the floor on BOTH sides of a discharge; its brilliant. Even strobes can't do that.

In illuminating the entire universally recognized shape of the exit discharge and the nearby floor areas, it sends visual information to evacuees in the critical moments before help can physically be in the residence.... Not to mention that first responders entering the unfamiliar structure might benefit from it as well.

The problem with this product is that smoke in a room prevents good visibility. Everyone should practice a Home Escape Plan, in the dark, with their eyes closed. I have been to too many fires where visibility inside the house was less than 18 inches.
