  • I liked Emmy much better than Sarah Brightman. To begin with, Christine was originally a ballerina, not a singer. With Emmy's sweet voice, the contrast between Carlotta's self-importance and Christine's innocence is highlighted. Sarah Brightman does have a good voice, but I think it sounds too throaty for Christine, who, after all, is very young and has only started learning to sing recently. Emmy's voice portrays Christine much more effectrively for me.

  • @GIRLgoneGAGAxxx I completely agree that Emmy has a nicer voice which may be better suited to Christine's character, but when Emmy sang this she did not stick to the rhythm of the music which I was really disappointed with, and felt took something away from the story. :)

  • i love how it's like exactly when they say the word the word are like perfectly together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks, it's magic.

  • @GIRLgoneGAGAxxx well we can't do anything about it... I think it's a present from her former husband the composer of the music, Andrew Lloyd Webber. She is married to Andrew when he created the Phantom of the Opera.

  • como se llama la protagonista¡??

  • It was probably Webber's decision to change the scene

  • I love that Raoul's head is turned away from the screen just as Carlotta says "she's mad!" because it looks so much like Raoul said it x) great work, I've always thought that the original casting was so much better than the movie's casting. Gerard Butler may be sexy, but Michael Crawford's voice is to die for <3 -le sigh- if only Gerard had Michael's voice.. Sarah Brightman's voice is so much better than Emmy Rossum's, even though I agree Sarah's vibrato can get annoying at times

  • @GIRLgoneGAGAxxx The movie version of the character is more innocent and sweet so Emmy is fitting. I like it, but it's a deviation so the two are hard to compare.

  • @sca1429 Fair enough. I guess it's just the way I see Christine in my head, she's more sweet than... operatic. Which is a bit dumb, seeing as the musical is The Phantom of the OPERA. But that's just my opinion. I guess I just don't like Sarah Brightman, which is why I find it hard to see her in one of my favourite roles.

  • @GIRLgoneGAGAxxx I like Emmy's voice, but the role of Christine was WRITTEN for Sarah Brightman. She was married to Webber and he wrote the role for her. So saying she's "not right for the part" is dumb. She IS the part.

  • @DarthxErik Good point :P

  • @GIRLgoneGAGAxxx She WAS taught by the angel of music..........

  • @nekidspaceman this really needed an angel voice that is not there in this version. emmy is tons better at this part.
