i woke my neighbours up, watching this video.

Since this bike has fuel injection and an electronic management system which the cat is a part of, does the fuel injection work properly when the cat is removed? I mean, how does the overall engine management works without the information supplied by the lambda probe in the cat?

It will run.....richer not leaner..... Dillon read what ya wrote....more air flow means it will dump more fuel....
That will be ok it's when u run leaner u have to worry about cooking a cylinder. Running richer will just hurt gas mileage and cause backfire due to spent fuel burning off....which will add a nice flame outta the pipes.

And if your bike has a lambda in the cat u need to find a nut your lambda can screw into and drill a hole in the midpipe and weld that nut onto the midpipe but if u used the stock midpipe and removed the cat u should b able to just screw your lambda right back in there

Btw map it man it's not good for the rings to run it that lean ur gonna destroy ur bikes power over time riding it that way and u will get a longer better power curve after mapping cuz uve totally screwed up ur air to fuel ratio I mean think about it now u got more air flowing thru but what's tellin ur bike to dump more fuel without the proper map

When u remove the cat it's gonna run a little leaner from more air flowing through and that will create more heat in the cylinders if u don't put a richer air to fuel map but as far as the guy saying doesn't it help keep water out of there a cat makes water when exhaust flows through it that's why when u stand behind a bike with a cat that just started with a cold motor it spits on u bit once it's warm it turns to steam and u won't even know its making water

Put them in my 05 r1 and sounds identical to yours. I did notice though it runs rich and a power commander 5 helps with the popping you get on your decelleration. Also I took out my aic and installed smog block offs. All that gave me monstrous torque, throttle response, and huge low end power gains!

how much did that set you back?
Sweet sound and ride.

That sounds heavenly demonic.

hey mate have you lost top speed.Or have you lost some of your hp ?

Nice vid man. Sounds sick. I might be buying an R1 soon and if it has stock exhaust on it I will probably end up doing this to save some money. You should take some fly-by/driving vids.

Just curious. Doesn't that cat in y-pipe help stop water from getting in?
I dont mean to sound stupid...
Im not an expert on bikes, but why have you taken the cat. convertor out, i thought that was to stop pollution etc... Im not Green peace or anything, dont worry :)
Does it add performance, better/ deeper sound??

The other 49 states model bikes don't have catalytic converters. CA has smog regulations. Not having it frees up the flow of exhaust so in theory it does make a performance difference and in my opinion, adds to the sound.

how did you take the ribbets off and put them back on?
SmoodLee 3 years ago
you have to drill it out, then you put new ones on with a rivet gun.

can i take out just the cat and it be louder
gayrabbit 3 years ago
no, the baffle is what makes the deep sound
