Pretty cool, but I'm missing some details. E.g. how did you find it, what is the probable reason of the problem (buffer overflow, etc), what parts of the software does it affect, and what are the risks of this exploit (like code execution, authentication/encryption bypass). It's a quite interesting one, so some would like to take a look at the background.
Or did you? Then it's just to early "in the morning" for me :P

You are doing it wrong. You need to send a SMS with type set to E-Mail (0x50). What you are doing is sending an email via smtp, which is clearly not the same.

Newer Phones that support email via pop/smtp do usually not support the e-mail type anymore
