At 14, Earle left home for Houston to stay with his uncle, Nick Fain, who encouraged him to continue playing guitar. Soon after, Earle met hard-living songwriter Townes Van Zandt, who inspired him to make music his career. After combating personal demons and serving some time in jail he began to play again. Earle started releasing more innovative records, which included more ardently political protest tunes . A long-time anti-death penalty demonstrator, Steve started working his politics into his music. He's now hailed as one of the most fantastic forces in the alt country world. This video is an exclusive behind-the-scenes exploration of the inspiration behind Earle's new double Grammy®-nominated album, Washington Square Serenade, and features partial performances of 3 of its songs, including the #1 Americana single "City of Immigrants", and the Grammy®-nominated duet "Days Aren't Long Enough (with Allison Moorer).

Dear Sir or Mam, If you do not like Steve Earle or do not like this style video, why listen? The best thing sbout the internet is finding what you enjoy. Why bash on something you don't like and then check to see what everyone said about it? People like you confuse me, you are always "holier than thou" and can't leave it alone. Don't bother trying to post back I spoke my mind and that's all I have to say on the subject. P.S. I'm sure I misspelled something.

  • Steve Earle is real, he's honest about who he is & what he believes. You don't find that very often in the society we know today. I hope Steve writes a hundred more books & at least as many songs! God Bless Ya Steve!

  • @bahbah747 I echo your response to that person. There are always people that get off on bashing just about any one. Good for you and what you wrote.

  • All I gotta say is Elijah's Church--one of the most amazing songs that I've ever heard.

  • Willie and Bo loyal friends RIP and friends of me RIP. On my death bed I will remember them. May there fields always be green and the sun always shine. My heart was broken.

  • Much prefer the Guitar Town era.

  • I love Steve, but hey man, get rid of that comb-over...

  • Hadn't listen to much of Steve's music till lately, though I've always been aware that he portrays a sense a sincerity and honesty. Now I'm traveling 12 hours to see him in Missoula Montana on June 18th and Ray Lamtagne on June 20th. What a combo!!! If you're gonna be there... see you there. If not, buy your tickets now.

  • where can you find the version of the song in the video? tennessee blues. this version is different from the album version and i had it at one point...but i can't find it anywhere.

  • I love Steve, but spurcross said it 4 mos ago...Steve doesn't know anything about the chaos on the Mexican border or the violence. The problems with Mexico are in Mexico. They need to fix it down there and not blame us for the economic problems. Want in? Go the legal route like others did before.

  • fukkin rock onn,.

  • @canwejustgo whats canwejustgo stand for? (can we just go fuck ourselves?) cuz thats what you can do! he's seen more stood for more and conquered more in half his lifetime than your pencilneck liberal little ass ever will ! whats tattooed on your ass? (ENTRANCE) and (WIDE RECIEVER) lol lol lol ! so what the fuck you ever do? write a fucking poem? and sit in a dunk tank for a fundraiser you clown? Or better yet sit around scratching your nut sack and watch the cows graze!
