you obviously dont have alot of faith in the human race if you dont think people would not know the difference between right and wrong without a god. If you need a god to scare you into beeing good to other people than you really are a selfish person. Are you saying the only reason you dont go around murdering people is becaue you are afraid of a higher power?? The human race is the most intelligent creature on earth and therefore we naturally try to work together cause you gain more on that.

@heavytom89 That's logic. Not morals. Yes it makes sense to not kill each other. But that doesn't mean it's WRONG to kill someone. That's why we have protesters of war and why we have dictators and we get genocide in the name of what's right. Because there IS NO RIGHT. Your talking about LOGIC not MORALS that are different.

Make up rules, the greater societies prevail, no? Isn't that what happened? There were several theistic societies that were indifferent towards murder, slavery and infanticide. Some demanded it on religious grounds. The whole idea is to end up on the winning team and we do that by working together. That's why christian men kill black children indirectly when they buy diamond rings for thier girlfriends.

Btw a crazy person or someone else who commits any heinous act is in the wrong because they are acting out without consideration for there fellow humans well-being.

But thats only based on your standereds. People that drive a car on a daily basis emit fumes that are bad for othe rpeople. People that speak there mind and tlel you what they think may OFFEND (oh god no) othe rpeople. your deffinition doesn't aply to what I think is right which kind of proves my point.

I just ment to say that going off on theism being necessary for ethics is silly since religion changes with public opinion and very little is based on right or wrong. Sexism beyond even modern day fundalmentalist, was encouraged in the new testement and slavery was recognized and accepted in the new testement. Does the bible say what's wrong or does public opinion? why is abortion of American babies wrong while sending Sierra Leon child units to war acceptable?

If there is no God than we can still know the difference between right and wrong based on our own empathy. Do unto others... we shouldn't need someone to tell us right from wrong we should simply ask ourselves "How is this going to affect everyone else?" when making a decision.

Hitler was sick. You don't hve to be religous to see that. Most people are born with common human decency. You'll always end up with bad eggs, though. To have a propper set of morals, you don't need religion, you need society. And where do those morals come from? Basic human decency.
