  • Maybe I don't fully understand, but won't you have a problem with the neck of the jar being a smaller diameter than the lower portion of the jar where the water will sit and be measured? For a uniformly-shaped, parallel-sided vessel the standard linear scale will be a fairly accurate guide. But where the area of the opening of the vessel differs in cross-sectional area to the rest of the vessel you have to make a special scale to account for this. Best wishes.... Coote
