Eminent choreographer Bill T. Jones is regarded as an artist of extraordinary brilliance and an American treasure. In addition to creating over 100 works for Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, he has a Tony Award for "Spring Awakening", received the MacArthur Genius Award in 1994, and directed the current Broadway hit "Fela!"

In celebration of the bicentennial of Abraham Lincolns birth and the 25th anniversary of the company, Jones created "Serenade/The Proposition", an impressive, multilayered collage of powerful physicality, stunning dancers, American history, and striking visual design. Jones expertly intertwines video, costume, and sets in this feast for the senses set to a score of American folk music, excerpts from famous Civil War-era speeches and spoken word ranging from personal anecdotes to lyrics from "The Battle Hymn of the Republic", all performed live at the Pillow.
