  • Nobody can do it better than this man...my opinion is that this is far better than Vilayat Khan could ever accomplish.

  • it's just evolution man..shahid parvez started where vilayat khan left off

  • No . . . Adana is a different raga, but in the same thaat, asavari thaat. Speed does not change the raga, silly.

  • @daz199md - dude, this a very lopsided understanding of things. vilayat khan had a distinct bias towards the melody and shahid has a rhythm bias. vilayat khan has an edge over sp in the fact that he engineered the chassis on which shahid has built his car. frankly, VK's engine, suspension and transmission systems have not been matched yet... sp brings you lots of add-on features like power windows, power seats, designer upholstery etc etc... that's the difference, if you understand the analogy

  • @euceph noboday can surpaa vilayat khan

  • WOW !

  • beautiful khyal darbari indeed ... the dhrupad darbari avoids murkis ... vilayat khan saheb's recording of darbari is another khyal classic!

  • 2:31 most killer of all after the astai!

  • WAH WHAT A BEAUTY.

  • In the north certain Ragas are referred to purwang and certain utarang types. We also do have ragas that get their bhav in certain saptaks, Sohini for example likes tar saptak phrases. True Darbari should be explored in mandra saptak at slower lay 1st. Hansadhwani on the other hand enjoys faster lay as its bhav is chanchal. This is a very deep and interesting topic.

  • Darbari and adana are almost exactly the same except that adana doesn't employ some of the subtle alankar that Darbari does, namely certain andolits on the the gha and dha. Saptak and laya don't have anything to do with a raga. It's easy to confuse adana and darbari though. It's an extremely subtle difference.

  • I thought Darbari played in Tari saptak a lot and with faster pace and flow is Adana. Darbari is exact sames notes and phrases except is explored mostly in mandra and madhay saptak. Slower deeper phrases brings out the true Darbari bhav.

  • My god, those meends . . . So epic.
