BIOGRAPHY OF SPEAKER:

Brother Mahdi Qasqas has recently been granted the degree of Master of Counselling in Counselling Psychology with honours. Throughout this journey he has completed an 8 month practicum at the Calgary Young Offender Centre, worked full time as an immigrant settlement worker, and was extensively involved in several crime awareness and youth development initiatives.
Mr. Qasqas has been involved in public speaking for over 10 years. He regularly delivers the Friday Khutba's in various locations for Muslims in Calgaary and has presented at several small and large Islamic events. The most recent event was a Muslim Youth Convention in Calgary which had over 1200 youth in attendance as part of the Mobilizing Albertan Youth 2010 initiative in collaboration with youth in Lethbridge, Fort McMurray and Edmonton. The Convention featured ex-member and revert to Islam, Napoleon (aka Mutah Beale) from 2pac's OUTLAWZ. Currently Mr. Qasqas runs Muslim Youth Services in Calgary which aims to work with many youth from over 20 cultural backgrounds in achieving their highest potential. Although he was born and raised in Calgary, he immigrated to the West Bank, Palestine and lived there for four of his teenage years.
