Bowling tips from Derek Eoff, Bryan O'Keefe and Lynda Barnes, describing what to expect from a PBA Experience sport bowling league. Check out www.PBAExperience.org to learn more.
Hello. I've been bowling for over 30 years and have only two 300 games. Folks, it's just bowling. Experts can break down info and make this sport seem really difficult. How difficult is it when a PBA pro can use the best equipment, throw a great shot & leave a pin and a 5 year old with greasy french fry fingers can use a 10 lb. plastic ball, throw between their legs, hit the the head pin on the nose and they all fall down? I was buzzed for the 300's by the way. Tis a great sport.
I know I'm not going to change your opinion on what's sport and what's not (not my intention). I'm just posting the other side of the coin so you might think of it in a different light. They even consider cheer leading a sport...how can you NOT consider bowling a sport then lol. We throw curveballs all day with a 15-16lb ball...how heavy is a baseball /football/basketball again lol (just a joke). ;)
@gnardog821 I totally respect your opinion, however anyone can play any sport they wish to try. The size of a person does not determine their level of fitness (american football linemen, sumo wrestlers, heavy set race drivers etc) so that's not really a fair argument. Any out of shape person can play football, baseball, basketball in their local league and do 'well' respectively.
You build yourself to fit the sport you compete in not the other way around.
@Kamukix Some people even consider chess or pool a sport. Sure it takes talent, so it should be respect in its own right, and not as a sport. There's a lot of money to be made in poker as well, but it disturbs me when someone considers it a sport. Bowling is a "sport" where you can be completely out of shape but can "compete" at the highest level. I can respect the skill required just as the sculpter who makes statues of art. Its not sport though.
@gnardog821 think of it in a basic sense...you're taking a ball that weighs up to 16lbs and throwing it anywhere from 10-23mph while supporting your body weight on one leg and using your wrist/forearm to support and twist that ball. I'd say that's pretty athletic, it's not the 'cool guy' type of sport but it's absolutely a sport.
If that doesn't convince you then look at the money aspect of it lol...there is quite a lot to be made if you're good.
Well there is a bunch of "anyones" including myself that do. Different technologies are worked into bowling balls, as well as varying lanes and oil patterns used.
a sport is something recreational and taken seriously. anyone can take a football and throw it, but only some take it professorially. I could toss a baseball back and forth for fun as well. while some whip a ball down a lane for fun, others are serious about the little mistakes that can throw you off a good shot .
@amberbocklargo maybe you only have two 300s because you don't take the sport seriously.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
haha it's funny anyone would consider putting the words "bowling" and "sport" in the same sentence
