"Original cast" of Aeolian Hall's Experiment in Modern Music (the debut concert of Rhapsody in Blue): George Gershwin on piano, and Ross Gorman on opening clarinet glissando, altogether accompanied by Paul Whiteman and his Concert Orchestra. First recording, though restored of course, of the famous piece. Done acoustically into a sort of megaphone pickup device on June 10, 1924. Cuts were made to fit the Rhapsody onto two sides of a 78 record. (information from back of record sleeve)

Remember, this is the acoustic recording. There's an electric recording out there that was done a little later and sounds a little different. Some people say one is better than the other, but I think they both sound good.

That said, I am no professional at ripping tracks off of records-- this was done as best I could at home, but the converter I used seems to output a slightly lower quality of file than what you might get straight off a CD.

As an edit on my part-- YouTube has suggested "Rhapsody in Blue (Andante)" as the audio match; I don't believe this is correct. Neither, I presume, will anything else they match it with be.

LEGAL: I do actually own the record, but I still don't own the rights. I know there are plenty of ways to get whatever song you want for free on the internet, and it's your choice whether you'll be doing any of that, but I'm telling you right now-- I AM NOT AUTHORIZING YOU TO DO SO. This video, as far as I intend it, is for watching on Youtube.

Nonetheless, if you want the album info:
