The indisputable fact that Trawnikis had served at Sobibor Death camp implicates him in the nazi genocide project. It wasn't necessary to find him guilty of a specific murder; and anyway there are few living witnesses to these crimes. The doubts spread about the ID card used to implicate him in them was his only real defense. He was unable to give a coherent acct of his actions during WW 2 after he had been taken prisoner by the nazis.

It was on the basis of Israel's refusal to try him twice that he was freed; however, he was not found 'not guilty' of the charge that he had been at Sobibor, a death camp. That is why the US Gov't was right to deny him his 'citizenship,' since he had entered the US under false pretenses. He even admitted in his case that he had been a 'farmer' at Sobibor. There were also pieces of evidence found in Lithuanian and German archives that he had been a Trawniki guard.

There was no doubt in the mind of Israel's Supreme court that he had been a Trawniki (Soviet POW) guard, sent to work for the Nazi SS in various camps. The Israeli Supreme court let him off on a technicality, since he had been tried as "Ivan the Terrible," who it was proved had been a different guard, one who murdered Jews in Treblinka.

Sounds like they didn't have a very solid case against him.

Thank god this piece of shit has finally died.

They ask six years for this scum! I suggest a bullit for this nazi. And Demjanjuk jr. if you are a man...commit suicide. It really is a shame to be the son of this nazi-monster but let me guess ...you are a coward just as your father...

1952 – FILTHY Demjanjuk enters the U.S.
2009 Nov. – Demjanjuk’s trial on accessory-to-murder charges begins in Munich.
Burn Demjanjuk Burn!!!

THe US policy is to deport those accused of Nazi war crimes. There have been at least 150 people deported, so it is not just Demjanjuk

At least he has a son. A lot of the people he killed did not have the chance to live to have a child, (if he's indeed guilty.)

Back in the seventies I worked as a sub contractor at a small rustic resort on the Eastern seaboard of the United States. One of the workers there was a former SS camp guard. I saw the lightning bolt tattoos under his arm. The father of a friend who was Jewish knew about the man. He said we don't bother with him. He was one of the good guards. I think this case is where it has been decided that little fish are better than none at all. What is next? Are they going to punish the children, too?
