Espresso shot with the ill-fated Gaggia Achille lever machine Featuring La Marzocco single basket and Molinari Cinque Stelle decaff blend.
This is the second day with the Achille, so don't judge my technique yet!
I had to do the multiple cooling flushes as the machine was on for hours.

  • The machine on the video was problem free, but the plastic piston/cylinder is a bit scary, like a ticking time bomb, you never know when it will crack.

  • I wish people would stop holding up the Pavoni and Achille as though they were comparable. They cost about the same, but that's it. The Gaggia Achille is all plastic on the inside. The Pavoni solid, reliable and you'll spend more time learning how to pull the perfect shot instead of gingerly trying to bring the lever down without the cracking the plastic gaskets and cylinder.

  • Why is he wearing safety glasses?

  • Maybe a project to make the machine problem free: a new one cylinder in ptfe or metal... :D

  • Nice shot! How about the common problem of the Achille? Are you fixing them?
