Why we need the metric system

Of the many reasons why the metric system is a better choice than the
units currently used in America, one reason that often gets overlooked
is the AMBIGUITY of units like ounces, pounds, feet, miles, and gallons
-- all of which have multiple different values sharing the same name.

Well, I can say that American people is very proud of their own things, included measure units, and it can be seen as un-american converting into a foreign and quite alien unit like metre or litre or kilogramme, even if i have seen that in scientific jobs they are currently used without too many problems
