K40-2000 Custom Installation

October 22, 2008 - Found out from some helpful souls that it's a custom mounted K40-2000 radar detector. Lucky me! Thanks to W211Beast and rob13572468 on MBWorld.org!

I bought this car a few months ago when one day these lights and sounds started appearing. They seem to be part of a hardwired radar detector, but I'm not sure. If you think you may know, please post here or message me. Thanks.

how much did it cost to install

I bought the car with it installed. On MBWorld, another member said that it was a $2000 system. So I assume it costs about that much. Pricey, yes.

Actually, I sent this video to K40, and one of their install technicians verified that it was indeed a K40. Would you care to explain how you came up with your conclusion that it is not a K40?

if in fact your telling the truh, I wonder why they went with this weird install...

No L.e.d's for the front or rear to show which direction its comming from.. and no voice, explains which type of band your are being targeted with, and didnt hear it say with voice k40 on...

The LED's were custom mounted into the turn signal indicators. If the left one lights up, the signal is from the front. If the right one lights up, the signal is from the back. The regular color of the turn signals on my dash is green, but as you can see from the boot-up, the K40 lights are red. I can tell which band is being detected by the chirps. What you can't see from this video is that the dash has a lot of hidden lights and indicators which would make mounting the LED's difficult.

@albert5667194 The K40 system does not work. I can guarantee you that from professional testing. Check out the Laser Interceptor for a 100% effective countermeasure against all Police Laser Guns. As for radar, the Valentine V1 is the best on the market followed by the Escort 9500ix and Redline.

i bought a car with it in and theres 2 red lights on the left and right and theres a middle on that you can switch from yellow to green. i dont know if its the same but could someone tell me what the difference between green and yellow is?

I have something called a K40 Super Wide installed in my '99 Eldorado. I have no idea what the fuck this thing is or why it chirps and lights up. Isnt there a manual for it somewhere?? :(
