East Bay Dillinger

In East Bay Dillinger, a young college graduate turned-bank robber has his life flipped upside down when he meets a girl in a red dress at the convenience store, and is thrown out of his element into the unfamiliar world of torrid romance.


Created by Ghost Coast Films at San Francisco State University in 2011 as part of Campus MovieFest, the world's largest student film festival.

@Fusegirl Thank you for replying. Plenty of online articles note the discrepancies between JD's real life and his urban legend. Indeed, she wasn't wearing a red dress. Apparently it was orange. One FBI agent even said JD was alone when shot. Sorry if you're unsatisfied because of differences between JD's life and this film but our goal was not to create a JD biopic. We wanted to do an entertaining piece that used prominent elements of his myth and set them in the East Bay.

@BenjaminGSP Dillinger was shot outside the Biograph by FBI agents and she was not wearing a red dress. I can see the ties, but they are so loose and I just think it could have went in an entirely different route and been done better. I mean, it was a good short film don't get me wrong, but I'm just so big on Dillinger, that maybe it's getting lost on me, sorry.

@fusegirl5 Dillinger was shot in front of a movie theater by the police. They were tipped off by the woman who accompanied him. She wore a bright red dress as a way to signal who he was.
