The Tea Fire started approximately just before 6 pm on Thursday, November 13, 2008. Video taken just above Alameda Padre Serra and off of Loma Media. Fire was approx. 100 yards in video

I went to Westmont College and lived in SB for 28 years. You did get really good footage. I remember those sundowners and fires. Glad you stayed safe.

Do you still live here in SB? It was quite surreal witnessing mother nature at its worse on our community. We did stay safe and left once we felt threatened. Thanks for your comment on the video.

i heard when fire burns the trees it's actually good for the trees. but i am sad the fire destroyed the Santa Barbara mountains and hills. i was also recording a video when i was at my grandma's house. and u could see the fire so clear where she lives.

my dad worked that fire. he was gone an entire week and he said it was crazy. my family spent all day in front of the tv just watching all the chaos unfold

HOW ABOUT PROPOSING A SOLUTION SO THINGS LIKE THIs WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN,

we have to build fireproof homes that never need to be evacuated- NEVER.

second we need a fleet of 747size water tankers along with heavy helicopters to put any fire out in hours .

simple to design and wouldn't cost anymore than what we spend now once we factor lives,property,wildlife and of course the bucket and garden hose efforts we have now.

I am terribly sorry that happened to you/him. Even if I imagined what it must be like for your family, I could not imagine it really. I was almost sure my mom's would burn.

As to why residents choose these places to live, people may criticize all they like, but they just don't see and understand. There is so much a place like SB has to offer; it's not like fires come all the time.

And this was a unique thing: a 75 mph hurricane of fire.

This is my parents' neighborhood. In 22 years of living there I never once saw a celebrity living in that area. My parents bought their house for $180,000 in 1982 and now it is worth $1,800,000. Why? My dad is a self employed contractor and remodeled it (often using me as assistance). This was in addition to my dad working 5 days a week on jobs to feed the family.
