12/19/2009 Remembering Toby the Family Dog: John Pemble Video Blog

Our family dog Toby was with us for 16 years, Saturday 12/19/2009 his health had dramatically taken a turn for the worse and he died that afternoon. This Pomeranian had a great social temperament and was adored by so many. He lived with my mother and step father who gave him overwhelming amounts of attention. Actually everybody who hung out with him was quickly endeared to this dog. Even in his old age he had a puppy like attitude. July 2008 I started making video blogs with a Flip hand held camera. Shortly after I published my first video (Cut and Color) my mother and stepfather visited me and my friends at my Fort Dodge apartment. I showed her my debut video and she laughed so hard she could barely breathe. Since then I have extensively used my Flip cameras to record moments in my life, many of which featured Toby. You will see him chilling out under the Christmas tree, meeting my new friends in Des Moines (where I moved to in November 2008) and how they instantly took a liking to Toby.

The last time I saw Toby was October 2009 when my mother visited me in Des Moines for the weekend. He was in good health and was the highlight of a small house party I had. Before Toby left I recorded him laying my bedroom looking adorable as he was about to fall asleep. There is a music track I composed a few years ago that you will hear in the last minute. Its one of many works I have yet to publish, but Im glad I could use it here to close the last video I shot of our dear sweet Pomeranian Toby.

He was a good boy for 16 years. A damn good boy.

I have added this video to my favorites, Toby reminds me so much of "Ferbie" my pom who passed away February 24, 2009. I always seem to get misty eyed when I watch this, it's so beautiful and touching and heartbreaking at the same time. Your never quite the same when they leave you, At least I know I'm not. I am very sorry for the lost. Toby was very beautiful :-)
