  • "They told me that he (Elvis) has gone, never leaving a trace", I didn't know the Elvis conspiracy theories date back as soon as 1977 (?)

  • @August1977 i think this song dates back to november 1977... it would be incredible if the band wrote the lyrics a year before Elvis died.

  • @nzoz1977 Yes that would be but Elvis died in August 1977

  • @August1977 i think this song was written and recorded prior to the death of Elvis - I could be wrong. None the less, if it had been written and recorded prior to August 1977, then either LRB had incredible foresite or its just plain coincidence...

  • One of my favorite LRB songs.

  • They were the last great exponents of west coast rock even though they came from Victoria in Australia. Poco were never this good, hell I think they were better than the Eagles. Have you heard The man in black? Makes me sick it is so good.

  • NO NO NO..no NZ...this is totally Australian!!!

  • @nzoz1977 yeah he died august 16th 1977

  • Hello! What a very nice song..its bring me sweet memories!

And the the man who is singing, has a great sexappeal...

  • I've always loved this song. It was a big hit in New Zealand. I've often figured it their best, although many of their other numbers are great.

  • @nzoz1977 On the remastered Cd i have it has a copyright of 1976- 1977 EMI Australia,, so thats when the ALBUM was released but ,, yeah who knows when this song was written i will further check the online archives ,, very interesting as i was only 14-15 at the time,,,

  • cool stuff !!! love them

  • I was never a fan of LRB when they were on the charts. But as I matured I have grown to love their music, with their harmonies and meaningful lyrics. just great musicians. Thanks LRB

  • Remember this song well, It never got the true recognition it or the BAND deserved! Glen keep up the GREAT SOUND, GOD BLESS! for all the great memories of years gone but never forgotten

  • @nzoz1977 If you go to google news archive search and search for "Diamantina Cocktail", you can see the album (with this song) came out in May or June 1977. Graeham Goble's website says May 1977. So they are making a comment about Elvis being a recluse rather than him dying.

  • @nzoz1977 Of course it was. It might have been released later in the year but it was definitely written earlier than August.
