Yeah, I don't mean to run down Les Pauls, it's just that they never turned me on like the Strat style guitar does. Above, I didn't mention the single coil pickup at the neck, my favorite guitar sound. Actually, I would like to build the "perfect" guitar, with 5 single coil hum-canceling pickups. They would be in a H-S-H configuration. Each pickup could be switched on by itself, or doubled up for a humbucking sound when needed.
Hey, up until recently I owned 4 Les Pauls, but these days the ONLY guitar I play is G&L... maybe not technically a Strat, but close enough! For me it's the tone and the playing style I find myself doing with a Strat. But there will still ALWAYS be a place for Les Pauls! :-)
Come on, now, I love my Strat. Nothing beats having the volume control right next to the strings, and the whammey bar, too. However, the solid wood Les Paul Special II I have been seeing looks pretty tempting. This guys Les looks like it has soapbar pickups, so it is closer to a strat thans the typical Les.
Oh man, Lucky's havin' too much fun! Looks like a great show! So great to see a modern Blues player playin' a Les Paul! Too many Strats in this world! :-)
Thanks for posting. (got any more from this festival?)

There are some great vids of Frank Marino at the same festival. Looks like I missed a really great show. Who else was there?
