I noticed, do not ask me why, Mr Knightley's angry(my mind, my interpretation) cane flick at about 7:32 ... I don't know why, but I fint it highly entertaining to just watch over that cane flick. And then not pay any attention whatsoever about what Churchill was saying.

I'm sorry, but this Jane does not hold a candle to Emma in terms of beauty.

My most favorite Austen book is Pride and Prejudice and least favorite is Mansfield park. :)

I'm sorry not Isabella but Ms. Taylor.

God I so agree with this. It took me a couple of viewings (never read the book) to catch on. But it's so obvious right in the beginning after Isabella is married and Emma and Dad are alone with Miss Bates and her mother. Miss Bates makes a couple of comments about how big their house is and then leaves. Emma watches her pushing her mother in the wheel chair across the front lawn. It's there where she sees her future. I just love this adaptation, it is so so rich.

@Delcielo9 i haven't read the book, but this adaptation is the most thorough ive watched so far. i love it! and actually even on screen i feel that the actress portrays her flaws so well. she is a very complex character that has a lot to learn. i agree with absolutely everything youve said!

I loveee that conversation between Emma and Mr Woodhouse. And how Emma tries to pull Jane away from Mrs Elton. These things show that although Emma is sometimes vain and stubborn, she is kindhearted, loving and genuinely means well.
LOL The Eltons! An ass riding an ass and another ass to pull both asses.

Readers of Emma are aware that Austen made her a very flawed individual. Young Emma feels superior to others such as Mr. Martin and the Coles, she is envious of Jane F. she is easily swayed by Frank C.; Her flaws are endless. We forgive Emma because she is young and inexperienced; She has never traveled outside of Highbury. We want her to love Knightley because we want to hope that, under his influence, she will recognize her flaws and change. She will be transformed by the power of love.
